Our history

About us

In 1899, right before the turn of the century, Albrecht Otto von Hohenfeld gave in to his wife`s plea to finally build their very own stable and breed Germany's oldest and probably most precious horses- the Trakehner.

Fortunately, Albrecht already knew reliable traders from East Prussia, which sold him horses of the best kind.

The old Hohenfeld barn was reconstructed and extended and Albrecht Otto acquired 4 more hectare of land in order to provide enough space for future mare herds and their offspring.

Our Philosophy

We advocate for classical horsemanship and support the well-being of all animals. We grant our horses enough time to grow up and to develop their very own specific talents. Furthermore we also take time to support each horse individually.

We are convinced  that great success can only be established through appropriate and solid work, just as  patience and time.

A very important aspect of our work is the condition of our stud as well as competition horses.  For us, it is a necessity to engage our horses once or twice daily in physical activity.

Next to the training with a rider, our stud offers numerous graze- and sandpaddocks, just as various meadows which give our horses enough time to enjoy the company of their mates or to take a break from training.
